The group was formed in 1987 in Tårnby on Amager and consisted of Dan Holmfjord, Jimmi Sommer and Daniel Herfort-Bruun.
The group was particularly successful in the mid-nineties in the wake of the wave of Danish rap music that MC Einar, Rockers By Choice and Øst-kyst Hustlers, among others, had spearheaded, and their first album was also partly produced by Chief 1 from RBC.
The bumblebee knights came far and wide and contributed, among other things in 1996 with “The Robber's Song” on the Åh Abe CD "Hej Frede".
Humleridderne quickly became one of Denmark's most successful rap groups and even received the award for “New Danish Name of the Year” at the Danish Music Awards in 1997 for their first album "Jeg Gi'r En Omgang Hvis Du Gi'r To!!", which included the hit “Painter's brain".
It sold almost 100,000 copies.
Later in 1997, the group released their second album, "En Genial Gaveidé" which contained the socially critical "Bridge-building hysteria” about the Øresund Bridge, as well as “Operation Blue Storm” – which was the Bumblebees' counterpoint to the Smurfs releases of the time.
In 2003, the group's last album, Supersky, was released.
The following year, the Hoplites quietly went on standby.
Dan and Jimmi continued their painting business, which had been put on standby during the group's hectic years, and Daniel Herfort-Bruun apprenticed as an accountant and devoted himself to family life.
The Hop Knights played “Painter's brain” on the Bøgescenen at the Skanderborg Festival in 2009 as part of the Smukkoncerten Vol. II. - and since then there have been a few occasional appearances over time.
After the great success at VEGA on 02.11.18, where they celebrated this year's Christmas brew and MC Einar's 30th anniversary together with MC Einar, the original members got ready for a summer tour in 2019 and the interest was great.
Since then, there have been a long series of great concerts at venues and festivals, and the party will continue in 2026.
