About Inez Gavilanes

Inez Gavilanes is an author, writing coach, and psychotherapist. She works with storytelling as both a creative and investigative practice, helping people discover and shape their own life stories through writing.

She combines reflection and concrete writing exercises in her lectures, so that participants gain both insight and something practical to work on.

In addition to her writing, she holds creative and self-development writing workshops for both adults and children and is part of the pop group Sukkerchok.

About the lecture

In this talk, participants gain insight into how they move from lived life to powerful storytelling. Inez talks about her own experiences working with life stories and gives examples of how opening up and working with one's own story can be a transformative process that is not only meaningful for the individual, but can also be an inspiration for those we share our stories with.

Along the way, the audience works on short writing exercises that give them a direct experience of how their own experiences can be shaped into texts that are both captivating and moving, and they go home with knowledge of how to write further on their own life story.

The listeners will receive:

  • an experience that they can actually write
  • concrete steps to move forward with their own story
  • a new understanding of how a life story can be shaped into a narrative
