All Time Jazz Band plays music with roots in New Orleans.
The repertoire is large and broad, and in addition to the well-known classics, the band has dug up songs that you don't normally hear, often with a few surprises for the now many loyal fans. There is music for both connoisseurs and lovers of jazz, and for those who thought they didn't like jazz.
All Time Jazz Band consists of musicians who know their craft. All are excellent instrumentalists and play closely together. It is improvisational music, but within fixed frameworks and with original angles and arrangements on all songs.
All Time Jazz Band likes to take detours to blues, rock and roll, evergreens and swing, but always with a perspective back to the beginning of the last century in New Orleans, where it all started.
Traditional jazz is the ancestor of all modern rhythmic music. All Time Jazz Band does not play historical reconstructions of the old numbers. Rather, it is a gentle reinterpretation based on all the rhythmic music that jazz originated.
Wind musicians Ole Rosendal on trumpet and flugelhorn and Erik Schreiber on tenor sax and clarinet have been playing together for so long that you'd think it was a lie. They play tight collective improvisations with occasional bursts of swing that sound like a full big band.
The rhythm group consists of Sindre Lindal on drums, Morten Tværmose on bass and Jan Gruwier Larsen on banjo and guitar. They provide a stable and lively rhythmic background for the wind instruments and sometimes break out into solo performances that are not part of the everyday rhythm group routine.
Quite specifically, the band has two excellent singers, Morten Tværmose and Jan Gruwier Larsen, each with their own very personal style. The rest of the band performs as a choir in many multi-part arrangements.
All Time Jazz Band has such a great variety in their musical expression and plays with such obvious joy and enthusiasm that you will never get bored in their company. It has even led to dancing.
It is quite special that all of the band members are vocalists and sing either solo or choir in multi-part arrangements.
The band always has a few new surprises in their repertoire. Among other things, All Time Jazz Band has rescued a number of largely unknown old jazz songs from the great oblivion – music that has accidentally slipped out of the traditional repertoire, but which deserves a new life.
In 2015, All Time Jazz Band released its first CD: JAZZ AT ALL TIMES.
